Modus Vivendi is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers for menswear and men’s underwear. They break up their collections into several separate “lines” each that has a unique design concept, advertising campaign, and particular products.

One of their most recent lines is the Mondrian Line, inspired by visual art from the 1960s, most notably that of Piet Mondrian. Even if you don’t recognize the name, you’d recognize the pattern. It’s the classic block style paintings using mainly primary colors and black. In this line Modus Vivendi has adapted that classic art-style into men’s shirts, underwear, and pants. 2

The advertising campaign for this line is unique and bold, drawing directly from the art the clothing is based on. The photography was done by Gavin Harrison and ads feature the gorgeous Phillip Sharp (of Celsius Models); the photo shoot was done in Leicester, UK.

Modus Vivendi has the following to say about their latest line:

In response to the runaway success of its 2015 swimwear line, which included new Mondrian Brief and Brazil Cut swimwear, Modus Vivendi has brought out a whole new Mondrian-inspired line of underwear and sportswear for its Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 collection.

Inspired by the abstract paintings of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, the new line uses strong color blocks in the rectangular form to create a bold visual impact and an upbeat, confident style. Briefs, boxers, and tank tops come in strong color palettes, with pure reds, yellows and blues combining with absolute black and white.3

The collection is handcrafted in Greece by Modus Vivendi’s skilled artisans using the finest materials available.

English photographer Gavin Harrison was selected to create the images for the new campaign. His experience in the world of fine art, his appreciation of color and direct photographic style made him the perfect choice. The photo shoot took place in Leicester, England and featured new boy Phillip Sharp from Celsius Models.”
Products from the line include briefs, boxer briefs, tank tops, and some very unique sleek latex pants/tights/leggings (available in backless chap-style, of course).
This is definitely one of my favorite of their lines since I both love their products and the visual art it is based on. I can’t wait to get my hands on to some of these awesome products!4
