Modus Vivendi is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers for menswear and men’s underwear. They break up their collections into several separate “lines” each that has a unique design concept, advertising campaign, and particular products.
One of their most recent lines is the Mondrian Line, inspired by visual art from the 1960s, most notably that of Piet Mondrian. Even if you don’t recognize the name, you’d recognize the pattern. It’s the classic block style paintings using mainly primary colors and black. In this line Modus Vivendi has adapted that classic art-style into men’s shirts, underwear, and pants.
The advertising campaign for this line is unique and bold, drawing directly from the art the clothing is based on. The photography was done by Gavin Harrison and ads feature the gorgeous Phillip Sharp (of Celsius Models); the photo shoot was done in Leicester, UK.
Modus Vivendi has the following to say about their latest line:
“In response to the runaway success of its 2015 swimwear line, which included new Mondrian Brief and Brazil Cut swimwear, Modus Vivendi has brought out a whole new Mondrian-inspired line of underwear and sportswear for its Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 collection.
The collection is handcrafted in Greece by Modus Vivendi’s skilled artisans using the finest materials available.
English photographer Gavin Harrison was selected to create the images for the new campaign. His experience in the world of fine art, his appreciation of color and direct photographic style made him the perfect choice. The photo shoot took place in Leicester, England and featured new boy Phillip Sharp from Celsius Models.”
